Escape from Tarkov - Developer interview on hardcore game elements

Escape from Tarkov is currently still in the alpha stage and is supposed to be a »Hardcore-The-Division«, in which the players are stuck in a fictional Russian town called Tarkov and there grapple with mercenaries and bandits. Similar to The Division, we explore the ruined city, fight opponents and loot better equipment. The highlight here: When we go hops everything is gone!

It's a pleasure to see you again

In Tarkov, the loot belongs to the winner, because if we knock down another player, we can help ourselves to our hearts' content and fill our pockets with the possessions of our victim. Thus, a weapon that we pimped up in painstaking detail can pass through several hands and end up with us again when we have finished off the last owner. If, on the other hand, you do not want to lose your beloved ratchet, you can insure it for a large amount of play money and keep it after you die.

A function that automatically activates a radio signal or lights a flare (if we had such objects with us) is also particularly cool. So we or our friends can immediately try to rescue the corpse and equipment or at least stop looters.

After the escape is before the escape

Even if the game is called "Escape" from Tarkov, the escape is of course not over. In an interview, lead game designer Nikita Buyanov stated that there was always something to do in Tarkov:

"It may sound like a paradox, but no good game these days ends with an end game. There is always something to do, like improving skills, playing side quests, or exploring hidden places. After escaping Tarkov, players can return to explore and do quests. There will also be DLC. "

The full interview with the designer can be found on the Escape from Tarkov official forum.
